2022 Spring Rec Softball!!!

2022 Emmorton Rec Spring Softball registration is now closed.  If you are interested, please email us at [email protected] ASAP, and we'll try to accommodate a late registration IF WE CAN.  There are no guarantees at this point unfortunately.

Practices will start in LATE March or around April 1st, 2 or 3 times per week.  Games will begin in late April (likely on a Saturday) and will run through early June, culminating in playoffs, championships, and All-Star games for each age group 7-8 and older.  This year we're expanding out youngest age group from 5-6 to 4-6, so please get your littlest girls started now!  :)

NOTE: The 14-18 year old age group did not have enough girls registered to enter a full team in the local county co-op league.  Those who were 14U eligible are still able to play in our 11-14 in-house league.  We will try to place any others with another team if possible, but it seems that age group is withering away a bit across the county.  For spring 2023, we will likely try to keep our age group options open and a little more flexible for hopefully create small leagues at multiple age groups for kids 11 and older.

Games and practices typically take place at either Ring Factory Elementary, Patterson Mill Middle / High School, and William S James Elementary School.  Once games start, ages 7-8 through 11-14 will likely have a weeknight game, one weekend game (Saturday), and one weeknight practice (coach's option on the practice, but they're highly encouraged.  Our 4-6 age group will have a clinic / game session on Saturday mornings (focus on building skills, learning rules, and exposure to game situations) and an optional weeknight practice slot.

Game Times:  Weeknight games will ALWAYS start at 6:00 pm.
Weekend game start times may vary based on age group.
4-6 Clinic will always be fairly early in the morning on Saturdays.

Equipment:  We ask that each player provide their own...

  • Helmet
  • Glove
  • Bat
  • Cleats (NO METAL SPIKES; sneakers ARE allowed in lieu of cleats)
  • Fielder's Face Shield (small cage that protect the face)

IMPORTANT:  While the COVID situation has improved and life in general has been slowly trending more back towards normalcy, we are not out of the woods yet, and as a program we remain subject to any restrictions (or even program cancellations) that might come down from the county depending on where things go from a public health perspective in the long run.  We hope all stay vigilant in helping us RETURN TO NORMAL!

    THUNDER Travel Softball

Emmorton Softball is currently fielding squads competing in local / regional travel leagues and USSSA events at the 10U, 12U, 14U,  16U and 18U levels.  Our squads play highly competitive travel / club-level ball against great competition from all over the region, and sometimes from across the country.  Our 2020-2021 14U squad was twice ranked #1 in the state at the 14B class (with some wins over A class teams too), and much of that same squad moved up to 16U where they made the championship game of their first fall USSSA tournament before falling to a fantastic squad that was then ranked in the top 5 nationally at the age group.  We keep costs as low as possible to allow broader access to high level travel / club softball competition, regardless of the size of a family's bank account.  We are not here to make money for someone (which is the ultimate goal with a lot of other club teams, whether you realize it or not) but to work together as a family / team to show that it's not about the hype or the dollars, but the effort and dedication of the players and coaches.

If you're interested in joining our Thunder softball efforts, as a player, coach, assistant, etc. please feel free to email us at [email protected] to let us know!

2022 Winter Skills Clinics

Fortunately, we were able to run 5 weeks of fantastic indoor skills clinics open on a first-come, first-served basis to those who had registered for spring softball.  While it wasn't as many weeks as we had hoped, thanks for some COVID school facility usage shutdowns again, the 5 weeks we got in went VERY well and sign-ups filled quickly each week.  We also received many comments from parents about how much their kids enjoyed them, and we looking forward to them week after week.  We cannot wait to resume in winter 2022-23 with hopefully a lengthier run of dates.  Thanks to all our awesome coach volunteers who donated their time to help make them happen!

2022 Bel Air Christmas Parade

Thanks to all the 2021 players who came out to wear our Christmas colors, carry the flag (or banner / bats), and greet the fine people of Bel Air.  :)  And special thanks again to the Grinch, who left Whoville for a day to come menace us all... along with the FANTASTIC VOLUNTEERS who put together our best float ever!  :)  We WILL be walking in the 2022 Bel Air Christmas parade once again, and it's open to anyone who registers for either spring or fall 2022 rec softball!
