Emmorton Update

Hello and Happy Father's Day!

The Rec Council has been working hard to safely re-start a few of our programs.  Along with this, all of the Rec Councils in the County have agreed to and developed a comprehensive set of guidelines for our return to activities.   We do hope to get access to the school sites in the not too distant future, but for now, we are still just at parks and rec sites.

Many of you have have been asking about the status of the refunds for spring programs.  This has been a process, as we have been waiting on our outside provider for some time now.  The good news is that we finally got on their schedule (they manage thousands of rec councils across the county and we basically had to get in line).  The information has been transmitted to them and refunds will be forthcoming shortly.  We appreciate your patience along the way - most of you have been quite understanding given the unprecedented COVID pandemic.  For that, I thank you!

For those program opening back up, here are the policies we are operating under going forward.

This guidance is specifically for Harford County youth sports programs conducted in cooperation with Harford County Parks and Recreation under the various Harford County Recreation Committees.   This guideline does NOT supersede or eliminate the responsibility of all involved to adhere to guidelines provided the State of Maryland or the Center for Disease Control (CDC).

This is intended as a checklist to help staff and participants ensure best practices are being implemented and followed to help promote a safe/healthy environment for participants, volunteers and family members.

1) It will be the responsibility of the parent/guardian to conduct temperature screening  prior to coming to the field. Program representative (coach/responsible adult) must conduct a brief health screen  prior to commencing practice or games (or when a participant enters the area if they are running late).  This entails asking each parent/participant if they are experiencing any symptoms or are not feeling well.   Any participant not feeling well will be asked to leave the area.

2)  Clean all equipment that is touched/handled by any participant/coach before and after each practice session/game.

3)  Attendance is restricted to participants, their parents/guardians and their family (plus coaches).   No general public attendance is allowed per State guidelines.

4) Attending parents/guardians/family must remain in the spectator area and practice social distancing

5) All participants/coaches/family members are asked to wear face masks when social distancing is not feasible and safe.

6) All participants/coaches must bring their own water bottle - no "Team" water bottles.

7) Programs/teams to work together and with their Recreational Specialist to maximize the distance between teams through time and space management of available fields

8)  Program representative is to take and maintain attendance records for purposes of notification in the event a participant is determined to be contagious

9) Every coach/program representative will have the most recent copy of the State Health Youth Sport Guidelines available and will provide on request.

10) Outside food vendors are not permitted at this time.
