Summer Programs and Refund Update

As we noted back earlier this year, Emmorton Recreation canceled all spring activities due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.  We did this out of an abundance of caution.Since that time, both Maryland and Harford County have begun to open up on a limited basis with restrictions.

As a result of this, we allowed certain outside activities to resume under very strict guidelines as outlined by Governor Hogan, County Executive Glassman and Harford County Parks and Rec.

Right now, these are non-contact activities/practices for certain sports which are trying to have a summer season.  Following the state guidelines, no more than 10 individuals (coaches and players) are allowed on the field at any one time and all most follow social distancing.  There are no games, just drills and practices going on.

We have officially canceled our summer basketball and game-day sports camps.

To be clear, there are no inside activities allowed and we are not allowed to be on any Board of Education property (school sites).  The programs which have ramped up submitted plans that were vetted by the board and our parks and rec representative.  All programs have received a field use permit so we have a handle on who is exactly on our fields.

As for the fall programs, there is no guarantee we will be cleared for these either.  However, parents can still register if they want to do so.  We should know more about the fall programs by early-mid July.

For those who requested refunds for the spring programs we appreciate your patience.  Our web service provider has been inundated with refund requests from across the country and has been slow to respond.  We have provided them what they requested to get these moving along.  We believe they have what they need and these should begin shortly.

In the meantime, if you have any questions feel free to reach out to the program chairperson.  You can find their information on the program web page.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.
